There are books with great first lines, and there are
books with great last lines. But hands down the book
that has both the best first and last line has to be
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens.
Every time I read, "It was the best of times, it was
the worst of times....", I tingle with anticipation.
Every time I read, "It is a far, far better thing that
I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better
rest I go to, than I have ever known.", I am crying.
Dickens is just so very satisfying.
