"A small man entered, indecently small considering
the volume of noise he had been expelling."
In the Steps of Moses, by Louis Golding, p.407.

Really does this exquisite sentence need any commentary.
Methinks this is, much too often, a picture of myself.

Psalm 39:1
I said, "I will guard my ways,
Lest I sin with my tongue;
I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle,..."

James 3:5
Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts
great thing. See how great a forest a little
fire kindles.!

Excellent!
I think I need to go put out a fire or two.
I've been working on this in my own life. It's so much easier to tell people what they need to hear than it is to wait on God & let Him work in their hearts.

Gosh, when I first read this quote, I thought of another kind of noise being expelled. I guess I've been "hanging" with boys too much lately. Thanks for straightening my thinking out! Whew!

Seriously, I've been thinking about the Bible verses which say, "Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." And "Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." What comes out of our mouth is serious business for "life and death are in the power of the tongue." Of all the creatures, humans have the power of speech, like our Creator. Thanks for reminding me to use it wisely. :~)
