Our friends, Peter Li and Yong Liu, had their first
child last week. I have only asked them a dozen or so
times to pronounce her name. It sounds something to me
like, "Eeeyooo sjan." It means-State of Happiness. Her
English name is Maggie (which means Pearl). I asked
Qiang (Peter) to draw her name for me so I could post it.
I did the best I could! Maybe Left Coast Onlooker can
help me with the proper phonetic pronunciation so I can
impress Peter and Yong.

Congrats on the new little friend!
Can I e-mail you the pinyin?

Congratulations! I love the drawing. New babies... sigh.

Leftcoastonlooker, definitely you can email me the pinyin...but, what IS a pinyin? Peter and Yong are from Northern China, that would mean they speak Mandarin (am I right)?

I think that picture is so neat.

I put it up my comments where you told me that you put this up here - I think it was the weird things about me.
I'm on the run, if I weren't, I'd copy & paste here --

did we help you the right way?

Yes, oh yes. We went to see Maggie last night. She is a beautiful babydoll. I was aching to hold her, but she was sleeping. When I can get some pictures of her I'll post them.
